I'm So Glad You're Here!

Dr. Kevin Schoeller currently works and lives in the Atlanta area, performing with a variety of music groups and teaching privately throughout the metro Atlanta and Athens areas. His private students range in ages from 2nd grade through high school seniors. While primarily a trombonist, Dr. Schoeller teaches students on trombone, bass trombone, euphonium, tuba, and even trumpet! His students have participated in numerous honor bands and orchestras, All-State bands, and summer music festivals, as well as performing recitals, chamber music concerts, and successfully auditioning for collegiate music programs. A little more about Dr. Schoeller:

​

Kevin Schoeller holds a doctoral degree in trombone pedagogy and performance from the University of Georgia, as well as a doctoral minor in instrumental conducting. His primary teachers have been Josh Bynum and Mark Hetzler, although he has had the privilege of working with many great instructors and performers throughout his education. Kevin also holds a Masters of Music in Trombone Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Bachelors degrees in Music Education and Music Performance from the University of Georgia.

An active performer throughout Atlanta, Kevin currently serves as the 2nd trombone with the Georgia Philharmonic and is a frequent member of the Georgia Brass Band, among other performance obligations such as performances with the Ludwig Symphony; Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra and Northeast Atlanta Ballet; and the Alpharetta Symphony. He was also a substitute trombonist with the Madison Symphony Orchestra is Madison, WI and performed as the euphonium soloist for Holst's "The Planets" with the Janesville Symphony Orchestra. As a pit musician, he has had the pleasure of playing numerous operas and shows, with highlights including Chicago, GypsyCarmen, and The Nutcracker.

As an educator, Kevin Schoeller currently has a full private studio, as well as working for multiple organizations throughout Georgia. He serves as the low brass instructor for the non-profit organization HEART Music, which serves the students of Athens-Clarke County. He is also the low brass instructor for ZTunes Music and with the University of Georgia's Community Music School.

Between his masters and doctoral degrees, Kevin Schoeller served as the director of bands at Lakeside Middle School in Cumming, GA, and as the assistant band director at Mabry Middle School in Marietta, GA. Many of his students were selected to participate in honor bands throughout the state, and also to be members of the GMEA All-State Band. During his time at Mabry Middle School, his students were invited participants for the Music For All regional festival in Atlanta, GA and were selected to perform the following year at the Troy University Honor Band Festival.
